Columbia’s vibrant downtown, directly adjacent to the MU campus, is known as The District. The MKT Nature & Fitness Trail is a 4.7-mile urban walkway through Columbia’s greenbelt. The trail connects with the Katy Trail State Park, the largest rails-to-trails in the nation, stretching 185 miles across Missouri. By the way, the entire campus MU is a designated botanic garden!
Handmade creations can be found at galleries, boutiques, and gift shops throughout The District and on the MU campus.
Columbia Missouri is located midway between St. Louis and Kansas City, each city has an international airport. MO-Express Airport Shuttle provides door-to-door transportation between Columbia and both these airports.
Columbia has a nice selection of lodging options for family members accompanying patients. Hampton Inn & Suites in Columbia at the University of Missouri is the closest — located directly across the road from the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute.

The most convenient, of course, will be the cafe at the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute. The cafe at University of Missouri Hospital – just a block away from – is a good alternative.
